As long as I can remember cars have been a fascination of mine. Not any odd car, but the old precious valuable vintage cars. The cars with elegance and style, with curves and lines, the cars with a story the cars before mass production and modern galore.
And look what I came across today, via Bloomberg LP , my dream car of all times the 1963 Shelby 289 Cobra.
Cobra in my Heart…Cobra in my Core…
It’s funny how just the picture makes my eyes sore, and how I sit here longing for more….maybe one day! Dreams are free and I’m using my right to dream on.
Amazing things continue to happen in the «Silk Cocoon» (read Le Petit Country Shop). And I’m going to tell you one of the stories.
Last month I was contacted by a woman, I did not know her at all, but she had seen my beautiful Ltd #artscarf collection on the web and she wondered if it was possible to see them «live»? I told her to come at Le Petit Country Shop on Sunday and she agreed, but told me to give a hint if there was any chance to come by earlier.
And as it happened I had an appointment for thursday, to help two other ladies to pick their silk scarf, so I told her to come at 18:00, if she could.
I tell you, she was so happy about it, and five to six she arrived in the Country Shop at Strai. She entered the «cocoon», stopped half way in and just gazed. She was totally amazed by the atmosphere and all the silky babies hanging around smiling and flirting with us.
«Oh my god! They are gorgeous», she cried with a low voice filled with enthusiasm.
This one of a kind woman, she really made me feel like I’m doing something right.
She was an angel sent.
Because at times it is hard to keep up the phase and make everything work all by yourself. Sometimes the doubt comes sneaking and you wonder if you are just making a fool of your self…
But she made it all soooo worth while.
She gave me the strength to carry on!
We selected two scarves, and as we did, she winked at me and said:
«These are just the two first ones, I’ll be back for more.»
I’m crying of happiness as I’m retelling this story, because it is so important and it means the world to me to get this kind of credit after all the hard work and effort put in.
Though I have a saying that keeps me going because it is true..
«If it means it doesn’t mean anything to anyone else in the world but me – that’s enough! Have faith and believe in your self!» -Ingrid Himberg
…doesn’t change the fact of the good feeling when what I create means something to others, too!
And when it is appreciated with genuine words, a body language not to be mistaken, I’m filled with pure plain wonderful complete happiness!
This absolutely stunning, beautiful woman also described to me, with passion, how she would lay them out over her sofa when she came home, and how she would pour a glass of red wine and just enjoy admiring them. I can’t tell you how home she had come.
I have the exact same feelings about the silk scarves, every single one of them, means so much to me! And the feeling just keeps growing as I work with them. Working with their pictuers, telling their story.
I never get tired of putting them on, ironing them up, packing them down, with love, to go to new homes. It’s an amazing experience. And meeting up with a silkysoulmate like her, just made my day, week, month, year!
As she left with the scarves, she whispered to me with a happy voice «I’m so filled with joy and I’m over excited about these scarves, right now I have heart beats!»
I told her I know the feeling!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION
Have a wonderful day, and remember to embrace life with gratitude and grace….preferably in a SchimJolie #artscarf design made out of 100% passion for life, travel, honest photography, true love, all transferred on to high quality 16mm Satin Silk!
I like to wrap up in an Ltd #artcarf by Schimjolie as some of you might have noticed 😀
But as it happens I also like to make eatable wraps from scratch and here is my recipe:
Spelt Flour – Olive oil from Oliviers&CO – Pinch of Salt – Baking Powder – Milk
I don’t like to make too much fuss about measuring so I just take the flour (important to save some for the pressing out part) and add some salt, baking powder and olive oil. Then I add milk until the dough is firm and sticky!
Here you can take a break …that’s what I do! I put the dough into a plastic bag and store it in the refrigerator until I want to continue 😀
In my case it is the next day…
Or you can just leave it in the bowl put some cling film over and wait 20 minutes:D
It’s getting really cold outside. The colorful leaves, that made this autumn a true firework, have left most of the trees, but yet again we are entering a beautiful season up north!
Winter! Frost! Snow! Christmas! Candles! Dark! Cosy! Cakes! Hot-drinks! Music! And I could go on with key word, but I will not!
I just want to welcome you to Strai and to Le Petite Country Shop! We have the atmosphere and the most amazing surroundings here. It’s less than a 10 min. drive from Kristiansand center!
We are next to Drømmehaven, a flower and interior shop making the most gorgeous decorations for x-mas right now! They also have evening courses! Check it out!
In Le Petite Country Shop we have the gorgeous multi use designer Ltd #artscarf form www.schimjolie.com.
We co-operate with local hand crafters and have gotten hold of Mille’s handmade meditation candles.
The candles are made from the best raw materials, they are 100% natural consisting of bi wax and pure essential oils. You can massage the oil and wax on to your skin leaving it soft and smooth with a fresh scent!
In the knitted wool department, Karina has left some of her hand knitted hats for kids! They are super cute and absolutely one of a kind!
I might also take up my commercial photography and do some children and family portraits if anybody is interested?
Next to SchimJolie – Petite Country Shop I already have the most amazing flower and garden outlet «Drømmehaven» run by the sweetest and so friendly Kristin. She came with coffee to me as I was way down in all the crap and rubbish stored over many years in these three garages we cleared today!
Tomorrow I will paint the joint and then I will start decorating! Come and visit if you have the chance. I’ll bring the coffee machine tomorrow and there is always time for a chat!
The place will not be perfect at first but, but I need to get going and to get started, so I don’t worry, we’ll work it out as we move!
Life is too short to care about trifles 🙂 JUST DO IT!
So see you at Strai and at SchimJolie – Petite Country Shop – Studio & Gallery!
WELCOME – BIENVENUE – 歓迎
It’s only 10min by car from the center! Just saying!
On thursday we met with Alpakka Lista. Alpacas have fascinated me for a long time, and I started to google and try to find out more about them this summer. Therefore when I found out about the livestock farm at Lista I just knew I had to go!
We got a really nice meeting with Cecilie Nilsen who is the «mother» of over 45 alpacas.
She imported her first stock from New Zealand in 2009 and has never looked back. She told us that the process has been long and challenging, but well worth it, when coming this far.
She gets lots of attention from tourists and from the people in the little communities of the ares around Lista.
And you don’t have to wonder why…really!
The Cutest Alpaca Girl Ever
Alpacas are used in therapy and mindfulness. And just to sit and observe a flock of alpaca is very tranquilizing and interesting.
Cecilie tells us that their attitude resembles of a cat’s. They are very independent, curious, a bit shy. They are elegant and graceful. And they are beautiful, funny and friendly.
But not like the cat, you can train an alpaca, they are super intelligent and responsive to training. Left alone you can pet them but:
The alpacas do not like to be cuddled when they are in their flock on the field, they are not that kind of animal. They totally ignore you and pull away if you try to stoke them.
That’s why in the pictures I’m walking around in the flock, when I came too close they just pulled away!
Cecilie also told us that if you cuddle an alpaca when it’s a baby and use it as a pet, they can go crazy and you have to put it down.
But if you treat them with respect and let them live their own life on a big field, in a flock, minimum 2, under your care; which is limited down to cutting their nails, trimming their wool once a year, checking their teeth, giving them the possibility of shelter during rough weather and some concentrated feed and D vitamins in the winter month, the alpaca is surviving and living a happy life.
We have to admire Cecile and her husband for their work at the farm. And all the things they have accomplished! Check out their web shop with the fantastic products made of alpaca wool.
Thursday was a wonderful day, sunny and warm, so we moved over to the Light House where the alpaca boys were grassing and decided to make a photo shoot with them in Ltd #artscarf from SchimJolie.
I was really surprised and filled with joy and inspiration when Simon came to see Svein Erik yesterday.
Simon and Cathrine have lived in England for over 10 years. During that time they have established a coffee chain called «Little Italy Espresso Bar»(Read more about them and see nice pictures by clicking on the blue link!)
They run the chain very successfully at train stations. They also have a high street café in Haddenham!
Simon and Cathrine have worked so hard and they really deserve all the success they are having now!
Well, back to my surprise and joy! Simon had what I at first thougth was a «leaflet» brought with him to show us! But at a closer look I realize they are now officially editors and writers of their own Little Italy Epresso Bar Newspaper!
I think it is amazing! And it is so clever! Now their customers can have coffee and read a few stories about Little Italy Espresso Bar, about owners and staff AND other traveling customers! That was the genius thing about it! Simon and Cathrine uses their regulars and portrait them in the magazine in a very humorous way!
Good PR, and a win win!!
I take of my hat! I know how much they work running and managing the coffee bars. I also know how much time and effort it takes to make a paper like that! But it will be well worth the effort I predict. Cause this is something you want to read on the train going to work or where ever after being served the best coffee topped with the best service of the best owners and staff 🙂
The magazine is great reading over 32 pages!!!
WELL DONE and I wish you good luck opening the fourth in the chain in 2013!
